Don Murdoch Doubles Tournament

We ushered in summer at the Orakei Tennis Club with the Don Murdoch tournament, which was played on Sunday the 28th October 2007.  The format was mixed-doubles, with each game lasting 15 minutes (or when a team reaches 21 points) and the serve changing every 5 points. A handicap system was used based on the rankings used for Wednesday club nights. 

The final was a closely fought battle between Glenn Neeve and Sue Stace against Richard Powell and Bridget Gaskell, with victory finally being claimed by Glenn and Sue! 

Thursday Social Doubles League

Unfortunately this tournament was unable to be run before Christmas this year, but we are hoping to revive this fun tournament in late summer.  Watch this space for more details in the New Year…

Previous Format of the Social Doubles League:

This social league is open to teams consisting of any combination of men and women, who can be either club members (including junior, senior or mid-week) or non-club members including friends, relatives and work mates. Depending on member’s interest, we will also be offering local tennis clubs the opportunity to enter.
